Chic & Modest Fashion for the Modern Hijabi

In today’s modern society, it isn’t easy (or cheap) to be a hip hijabi. There are a lot of behind the scene layers that go into making a normal non-hijabi outfit into a modest yet stylish ensemble. However, if there’s a will, there’s a way! Being a modern hijabi myself, I’d like to share with you some of my style tips and introduce an affordable yet fashionable way to dress modestly.

Let’s get to the bottom of this! Skinny jeans are the most popular trend item these days but they aren’t always the best hijabi pants out there. Yet, when paired with a long blouse, skinny jeans can go from too tight to just right in seconds! Mix it up with a cute pair of skinnies

and a loose blouse or cardigan over top for a cute yet modest look.

Now, I’m sure you’re thinking that it’s not so easy to find long “hijabi appropriate” blouses. Of course, I have an answer! The solution is to look at the unexpected. Meaning: shop outside of the proper blouse/shirt box. I’ve found some super cute and long tops in the most unexpected places, such as the sleepwear section, the extra-large section, etc. The key is to step out of your comfort zone to find the final item for your outfit. I often find that places like Target and Walmart have the best sleepwear shirts that can easily be pulled off as stylish blouses. Add a belt or chic blazer to pair it with and bam! You’re hip.

If finding a long top is still an inconceivable struggle, resort to layering. Layers are a hijabis best friend! You can turn a chic crop top into a unique hijabi top with simply a long tank top underneath. I often find these long tanks in places like Forever 21 and H&M for under $10. They’re super cute, super affordable, super modest and can be worn literally any time. Its best to get multiple colors too plus the basic colors like black, white and beige. Top it off with a nice cardigan or sweater for a warmer look.

Another fashion favorite of mine that has saved my modesty is super long and oversized cardigans. These long and proper cardigans are in style now and can be found practically everywhere. My favorite thing about super long cardigans is they give your behind that modest covering it desires and leaves room for a cute and unique top over it.

My final and most important fashion tip today isn’t an article of clothing. Rather, it’s an intangible item that is priceless; it’s your intention and comfort. No fashion ensemble is complete unless you are happy with what you’re wearing and comfortable in your own skin. Everyone is beautiful and no clothing item can change that, it can simply enhance your own inner beauty. Don’t forget your favorite accessories and you’re all ready for a lovely day out.
