It is a sad state of affairs we are in. Human rights, Trust and responsibility are becoming commodities for the rich and privileged. All the while, the voices of the oppressed become drowned out by tabloids and misdirection in the mainstream media. As even our own President admitted on Fox News, “Beverly Hills, California: many many people voted for me, and then I’ll see them on television saying bad things [about me]”; meaning, what you’re being told on TV is a lie. “They don’t want to lose their wealth. They are greedy people; They don’t want to lose their wealth. So they’ll talk one way, but they’re going to vote another way.” Simple as that.

We have all known for a long time that the media conglomerates have been expanding their market share and buying up small and large news organizations. As profits for television and cable news become narrower and narrower, the hostile takeovers seem to make sense from a business perspective. However, this leads to a uniform narrative among all the subsidiaries. Not to mention, these companies are making money by selling you what you want to hear. That means the highest bidder gets the narrative they want. Mainstream news has become nothing more than a few talking points and targeted narratives to attract the viewer base that will make them the most money. Fox news is a perfect example. Even if the capitalist greed didn’t exist in the media, Muslim voices are still gravely underrepresented. We are here to change that.
Muslim American intends to become a reliable source of information that Muslims and everyone else can rely on. As for the deceitful news corporations, Allah has left his message:
“But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.” [Quran, 29:3]
As the distrust and anger rises in the hearts of the righteous and good hearted, we felt it is our responsibility to try and become a beacon of Muslim owned media. Our goals are simple: Represent oppressed US communities where large media refuses to and give voices to the underprivileged. We want to hear from the communities and read the stories of those who feel unheard. Muslim American will showcase articles from anyone in the US who meets the requirements and submits their piece on our site. Please visit the submit an article page for more information. If you know anyone who has a story who needs to be heard, we will listen. Muslim American will also provide articles periodically pertaining to current events and important topics as they come to light.
We have a plethora of goals and ideas for how to grow our community. Currently, Muslim American provides islamic goods in store and online for new and current Muslims. We also provide affordable goods and resources to the incarcerated communities in the US. We work with a handful of prison systems and we are working to expand our network for those underprivileged brothers and sisters in prison. We plan to provide monthly updates in paper form to institutions without access to computers. This means that your articles can also appear in those updates where inmates can also gain insight on the state of affairs outside the facility. We also plan to design a community/forum on our website for Muslims and others to interact and discuss topics in an educated way that beautifully represents our deen.
We need you, as the reader, as a community member, as a concerned citizen of the US to engage with us. Tell us what you think, how can we reach the people in need. How can we help you and your community be heard. Submit your articles and help us educate the people of the struggles our communities face. Share our posts and spread the vision. We need Muslim owned media. Become a voice for good and we will become the beacon of truth for Muslim opinions and perspectives.
